In a private conversation we inform you about the available options for correcting your vision problem. At the same time we also point out that, no matter how esatblished it is and how professionally it is performed, any surgery on a healthy eye involves a certain amount of risk.
Many patients obtain information on methods of surgery in advance from acquaintances, newspaper articles and websites. We also offer you the opportunity to attend an 
information evening at our eye laser centre or we will send you information material by mail.
We already examine each patient’s eyes at the time of the consultation. This allows us to determine the patient’s uncorrected vision and the best corrected vision. In addition, the examination of the front sections of the eye using a slit lamp helps us decide which method of surgery would be best for you.
As statutory health insurance does not cover the cost of refractive surgery, patients must bear the cost themselves. We would be happy to inform you about the cost at the time of your consultation. For more information, see also costs.
If, after the detailed consultation and time to consider, you decide in favour of surgery, we will carry out all the preliminary examinations necessary for the appropriate procedure.
