BIOPTICS, too, is a combination of
ICL implantation and the
LASIK procedure. This method is used for high errors of refraction and for simultaneous defective vision and astigmatism and is an option for young patients whose lens still possesses the capability of accommodation.
Implantation of an intraocular contact lens (
ICL) can correct refractive errors of -12 to -18 dpt (
Short-sightedness) and up to +10 dpt with
Long-sightedness. Subsequent LASIK treatment can achieve further, maximum corrections of -8 dpt of myopia or +3 dpt of hyperopia and +5 dpt of astigmatism. There should be at least 6 weeks between operations.
