Expert LASIK treatment in a scientific research environment
In recent years laser surgery has established itself as a proven treatment for defective vision. Whether short-sightedness, long-sightedness or corneal irregularity – the LASIK method eliminates these handicaps quickly and comparatively easily, provided that the safety criteria and treatment limits are strictly observed.
Those who come to Augen-Laserzentrum Halle (Halle Eye Laser Centre) for such corrective treatment, whether for aesthetic reasons or because of an intolerance of eyeglasses or contact lenses, are in the hands of experienced specialists in a technologically advanced environment. As a scientific institute we differ from purely commercial LASIK centres in several important aspects:
Every surgical intervention at the Halle Eye Laser Centre is followed by our scientific team and analysed in numerous studies. This combination of scientific research and refractive laser surgery, which is virtually unique in Germany, contributes to the continuous advancement of this innovative surgical technique.
Our patients benefit from this, too, as we are able to provide them with individual advice and the best possible treatment. This is also a special personal aim of mine. That is why, for instance, I am also employed as the expert for the Technical Inspection Agency for LASIK which, amongst other things, strictly monitors compliance with quality standards.
Speaking of consultation, this area is given high priority at our institution. Every patient must be aware that although LASIK is an established method of surgery, it is also a surgical procedure on healthy eyes and involves a certain element of risk. We therefore always provide patients with comprehensive advice and discuss in detail the various surgical procedures with them.
The following web pages provide information on the different refractive surgery options. You can discover which methods of treatment are appropriate for you, what prerequisites you must fulfil for surgery and what you can expect from the first consultation all the way to post-operative care.
